Respect his wishes and wait it out for a year. Date other guys and explore your options. Then after a year, if you still like your ex, talk to him about it and see if you can get together again :)

We got in a argument and I got upset and dumped him. It was the first time I ever dumped him but our relationship has been on and off for a year and a half. The longest we have ever broke up was a month. It's only been a week so far this time but in the past it has always been me bugging him to go back out with him. Do you think he maybe never really wanted to be with me but I just made him feel like he had to take me back?? Idk what to do should I just leave him alone and only let him come back if he wants to?

My ex told me the same. When he says "take a break" he's just trying to appease you. He figures that if he tells you that then he can get rid of you for awhile. Don't wait on him. I know it hurts, but I think that's best. You can find someone better. But hey, if it's meant to be then he will come back to you. Never stop smiling though(:

I think you should keep in contact but take a break. He's most likely trying to find whether or not his feelings are genuine or not. Basically, whether or not he comes back is on a whim. You shouldn't deny the guy from talking with you as a friend while he tries to find himself. It's the time someone needs them the most.

I dumped my bf of 6 months jst over gettin really mad at him. Seconds after I did it I realizes no way that was not at all what I wanted cuz I loved to death and said it of plain anger. I told him sorry and to forgive me and take me back and he said I couldn't play with him and took sooo serious he said he needed a week to think about getting back with me. Tell him how important he is to you and if he really thinks a break is needed go for it chances r things will b ok. True love never dies so hang in there.

I apologized and tried really hard but he just wants to be friends so I tried to be just friends but all I could do was cry everytime I got off the phone with him cus it just reminded me that we weren't together. So last night I told him I don't want to be friends. I just hope I made the right decision
