As many of you may already be aware, a free update (ver. 1.2) for the BreakkUp iPhone / iPod Touch application was released today. Thank you for your patience as we pushed this update through Apple's approval process. We hope in the future, approval will be much easier as long as everyone continues to follow the basic rules.
New features in version 1.2 include:
• new search feature
• ability to see your entire user history
• ability to edit your questions
• ability to reply to comments
• ability to edit your own comments
• number of comments listed on index pages
• comments sorted from highest rated to lowest
• alert warnings and reminders about rules
• voting system changed to prepare for ver. 2.0
• misc bug fixes and UI improvements
• increased speeds when browsing b/w pages
To see your entire user history, go to the My Profile section of the BreakkUp application and click on one of the items listed under My History.
If you love our app, please give it a 5-star rating on iTunes and leave us a nice comment!
I figured you'd like this one. And we're working on threaded discussions for comments next so it's easier to track discussions. It's already supported on the main site, just not on the iPhone app. ;-P
there is a back button u just have to scroll down below that artical and click back. Then it will take u back to the previous page and then from there the usual back button will appear
There is a back button on the top toolbar, but it's a little buggy and we'll look at fixing it in the next release. Until then, there are also big gray back buttons within most of the pages that should work fine.
Profiles should be somthing we check more, maybe if it came up with The last five or so threads you've comented on and wether they've been comented since you.
If the app has appeared somewhat broken today (march 24th), I apologize. It should all be fixed and working properly now. We've been adding a few more features to include with version 1.2:
• ability to edit your questions and comments
• ability to reply to comments
• fixed the question submission process
And we made a minor change to the voting system, instead of touching 'break up' just touch 'vote up' instead. This is due to how the system will operate in version 2.0.
Yes, moderators will edit titles to help you get more feedback, and fix spellings. But, they'll never change the intent of your question. This is a common practice with Question / Answer web sites. :)
If you had asked me that at the beginning of 2009, I would have said that we would have hoped to release 2.0 around March. Well, it's now almost April and we're still a few months out because the software that powers this application is taking longer than expected to finalize. We rely on open-source technology so there's not much our team can do to make the process move faster until they finish. They are almost done, and it's lookin really nice.
The chill out button actually did not do much, which is why we removed it. We will introduce a new feature in 2.0 that will help auto-moderate the community by flagging inappropriate / drama-queen content. The flagging system will remove questions once they receive a certain number of flags, similar to how 'voting up' works.
Thank you for making the app!!! You probably know this but you helped alot of people including me. Even when you specificly don't comen there are 10 even 15 people there to coment and help those who need it! Thank you so much
Hi mods. Awsome job on the app I can't w8 till the update. I have a question/request. Would it be possible for this app to support a chat room(s)? It would be gr8 to have live conversations with users such as ladyd and the serious users who really do a good job helping. Maby those with a sertain amount of karma can use the chat room so it's not cludderd with users asking 4 help instead of using the threds on drama and breakups. Just an idea for the future. Again awsome job mods.
Also, the comments move around based on karma, how can you track the newest post in a large thred such as this one? It's confusing because I'm used 2 seeing each comment in order an stuff.
We've thought about chat rooms and the karma limitation is a good idea that we'll keep in consideration. There are problems with chat rooms though which is why Yahoo killed off a big portion of their chat lobbies. They require a lot of work to manage properly.
I'll submit a question on BreakkUp to figure out what the community likes best re: the comment sorting.
Ty for the fast reply. It's awsome to get rplys from the mods so quickly like you guys. But to get personal, I think the reply button is gr8. Keep it incase the public decides to change back. I think it just needs some getting use 2.
In the future that might be possible but I don't think that those are the best ideas. The purpose of this site is for people to get annoymous relationship advice. If we start letting people post pictures and stuff then things are no longer annonymous. The final decision is up to Colin though.
Hey COLLIN in the next one can you make it like people can go to other peoples profiles and see all the stuff they posted:) please!! Thanks oh and personal messaging to :)) thanks
Actually Evan, it works like that on the main website but the iPhone is a little bugged. We'll be fixing it on the next update so you should be able to see another person's question and advice history.
Until then Swaazey, I recommend you visit our main website at BreakkUp.com. You can do it from there.
They could be a "back to the top of the page" button? That would be really helpful for the iPhone :) takes the buiscuit to scroll up on big long texts and helpful info by other people. xD
I lovvveeeeeeee the update, But, the search function isnt very specific. For example i typed in "turn ons and turn offs" and "my best friend raped me" showed up. It mostly shows recent drama...thanks for listening.
Search feature definitely needs some work, we'll look into a quick fix for update 1.3. In version 2.0, the search functionality is substantially improved.
i agree this app is fenomenal. making your own profile with description, pictures and all would be great. it would probably weed out those who come here post some rubbish and dissappear.
in version 2, extended profiles will be an option left up to the user if they so chose. we're certainly not going to force it as we like to keep the service relatively anonymous.
if you visit the main website, you can edit your profile and add a link to your MySpace / Facebook / Blog page. The link will show up in your public profile and be clickable.
I have a question about the posts - why are some of them highlighted black? I read the information up top but it didn't tell me anything. thank you ! and this new version is phenomenal, great job guuys !
Black posts are the Anonymous users posting from Little Black Book application. Little Black Book has anonymous access to BreakkUp built-in but costs $3.99. It's available on the iTunes AppStore.
